Monday 15 June Arrive into Edinburgh, Scotland (Should you fly into Glasgow please let us know ). We meet you at the airport and transfer north to the Victorian town of Pitlochry. Take a distillery tour at Edradour, one of our smallest and personal friends of ours. Enjoy at leaast three tastings! Then time for lunch at the House of Bruar (Harrods of the north). We travel north to the highland town of Forres, where you will stay at Blervie House; Blervie is a Historic Scotland listed country house – a genuine stately home in over 300 acres of grounds. All the antiques are top quality and many have an interesting story to tell of how they came to be here. Take time to look around at the wildlife living on the estate, deer, and red squirrels and don’t forget Charlie the peacock. Dinner is included this evening.
Tuesday 16 June A day out along the Moray coast. We take a Moray Firth Dolphins Tours – aboard the beautiful ex Clyde class lifeboat The Gemini Explorer. You may see dolphins, various species of whale and a wide range sea birds. After the sail, we drive to Cullen, the birthplace of Cullen Skink. The Cullen Bay Hotel are the current winners of the traditional recipe for Cullen Skink – a delicious fish based soup made with potatoes, onions, milk and/or cream. We wander around locally, free time to enjoy the wee harbour , views, walks, pubs! We then return to Blervie House. Dinner tonight is in a lovely pub in Findhorn (not included)- right on the shore of Findhorn Bay, The Kimberley Inn has a long but slightly cloudy history. Return to Forres approx. 8pm.
Wednesday 17 June We travel to Oban for the ferry to Mull. First stopping at Culloden Battlefield, for those not been before and for those who have – another chance to see where your clansmen fought! From here to the Great Glen and the famous Loch Ness. We stop for lunch at Fort Augustus, at The Bothy, (your own expense). From here to Oban on the early evening ferry, passing Duart Castle on the way to Craignure. Then north through single track roads to the island’s capital. Stay in Tobermory.
Thursday 18 June We travel to the holy isle of Iona today, with a sailing to Staffa where you have an hour to see the puffins and Fingals Cave. Iona is famous for St Columba and The Book of Kells. It also has the Maclean Cross, the Road of the Dead, where Scottish kings are buried. Take a walk over to the abbey. Take sturdy walking shoes and a rainproof jacket today. Then we return to Tobermory early evening. A great day out!
Friday 19 June All day on Mull – depending on what the Clan Maclean are arranging you may wish to participate in. Or alternatively a day travelling the island, Calgary and down to Ulva, have a dram at the witches graves, Pennygown Graveyard near Salen. (They were Macleans). Overnight Tobermory.
Saturday 20 June The gathering events at Duart Castle. We drive you there for the clan opening walk and bring you home again! The evening free for any clan events you may wish to book, usually the Chief’s Ball. We take you to the function and bring you back at a time to suit. Overnight Tobermory.
Sunday 21 June We leave Mull for Oban. We take the morning ferry to Oban, then on to Inveraray- HQ of Clan Campbell – where we stop for lunch at The George Hotel. Then time for afternoon tea at The Gleneagles Hotel and Spa, a very famous 5 star hotel. Then on to Edinburgh where your driver leaves. Overnight Edinburgh.
Monday 22 June Final day/night in Edinburgh. The day is totally yours! Should you fly from Glasgow please let us know as you will probably need your final night in Glasgow.
