LINKS CUP PAIRS ANGUS August 31st – 5th September 2021

A new Links Cup Pairs event in Angus on the east coast of Scotland (mid Dundee and Carnoustie) to tackle three of its’ most popular courses. This 54 hole event is a trio of outstanding Scottish links – Montrose, Panmure and Monifieth – you will play alongside your partner counting their Betterball score on each hole, with both daily and overall prizes up for grabs. The Tour: full transport during the event from your pub/hotel and return.

TUESDAY 31 AUGUST: you will arrive into Scotland and are met at the airport, transfer to the pub/hotel, check in post 3pm, where you can relax, enjoy a bite to eat and drinks at your chosen hotel. We meet you later and run through the daytime details of the events.

WEDNESDAY 1 SEPTEMBER – MONTROSE.  You meet your personal driver/guide who will be with you for the duration of your golf and head off to Montrose.  With records showing that golf has been played here since 1562, Montrose is recognised as the 5th oldest course in the world. – golfers must do their best to cope with the undulating fairways, firm fast greens and deep bunkers if they want to score well. A bit of sightseeing on the way there or back.

THURSDAY 2 SEPTEMBER – PANMURE Established in 1845, Panmure’s place in the golfing annals was further cemented when the legendary Ben Hogan chose to practice here ahead of his famous Open victory at Carnoustie in 1953.  Always presented in excellent condition, the course offers first class links golf and will definitely prove very popular with our Links Cup Pairs competitors. You are transported there and back by your driver guide and depending on tee off times, you have time to go elsewhere.

FRIDAY 3 SEPTEMBER – MONIFIETH MEDAL – having regularly been used as an Open Qualifying venue, is no stranger to important events. It was here that now honorary Life Member Tom Watson got his first taste of links golf when he visited ahead of the 1975 Open which he went on to win. The course is laid out over prime links land, with gorse covered dunes and tall trees lining many of the fairways. Again, your driver/guide takes you there and back with hopefully time to take in more scenic sites or local pubs.
